Walker and Wilkinson at the double for 'Brook thirds

29 July 2010
Goresbrook IIIs 302-6 beat

Hornchurch Athletic 175 by 127 runs

SIMON WALKER and Joe Wilkinson hit Hornchurch Athletic for six on Saturday, as 'Brook recorded a comfortable victory at South Park.

Opener Walker hit 10 boundaries in his knock of 64, as Hornchurch failed to deal with a potent 'Brook batting display.

Wilkinson followed with a healthy 58, as 'Brook made hay with the bat, despite the best efforts of Athletic's young seamer Payne (2-61).

Other stand-out contributions included knocks of 43 and 29 from Vedant Thatcher and Billy Chapman, while 15-year-old Darryl Forward capped some sensible batting with an unbeaten 23.

Athletic's run-chase got off to a promising start with Rowmey (32) and Barry (32 not out), but collapsed soon after as Forward thwarted the middle-order with a superb four-wicket haul.

Jamie Sutton and Paul Atkins claimed two wickets apiece as the young 'Brook side posted another mature display.
