HOP TO IT... Jimi Tele took gold in the triple jump at the English Schools' Championship.
THERE was healthy representation from Havering Mayesbrook at the English Schools' Championships on Saturday, as Jimi Tele provided the star turn with a massive triple-jump victory.

Tele further improved his club under-17 record with a huge 14.86m leap as he won Inter Boys' gold in Birmingham.

He dominated the competition to win by 46 centimetres and will now compete for England in the Schools International at Glasgow on Saturday.

Georgie Taylor was edged out of a medal in the junior girls' discus to finish fourth with 31.45m, after occupying a silver medal position at the end of the third round.

Flic Clarke improved her 400m hurdles personal best to 63.66, having finished sixth in the senior girls' event with a hamstring strain.

There were also sixth places for Kike Oniwinde who threw 43.48m in the senior javelin and Emmanuel Quarshie, whose best shot putt of 14.01m in the senior event came in the last round.

Isaac Ogunlade moved closer to the club under-20 110m hurdles record with his 14.76 heat clocking in the senior boys' competition, and Josh Olawore went out in the inter-boys' 100m hurdles semi-finals after a runners-up heat finish.

Meanwhile, a convincing victory over league leaders Chelmsford at Braintree on Sunday restored the Eastern Young Athletes team's narrow lead at the top of the table with one match to go.

Victory in the final round on August 15 at Colchester will ensure that Havering Mayesbrook retain the league title.

The under-15 boys started the day 25 points clear of the opposition but surprisingly recorded victories in just one A string, two B strings and the relay, while collecting 14 second places.

The improving under-13 girls scored six wins as Heidi Surman-Wells continued to improve with every race, and her 100m win took her to equal fourth on the club all time rankings.

The powerful under-17 women come out on top in a head-to-head battle with Chelmsford.

Sophie Baggs was best in the A discus and Debbie Knight added javelin honours, with Patsy McWeeney taking the B.

The under-15 girls narrowly finished second to Chelmsford, as Bethany Chambers again starred with wins in both the 100m and 300m A string events.

The under-17 men were outgunned by Dacorum & Tring, but still produced some fine results.

Hoseah Gikungu stepped down to the 800m and won with a new personal best.

The under-13 boys were narrowly beaten by Chelmsford.
